Funding your project, there are a number of ways to do this, including:
Remortgage, Savings, Inheritance.
It all depends on your personal circumstances, a financial advisor may be able to assist you.
3. Perfect Planning
Contact a architect to produce scaled drawings which reflect in your idea, they will be able to advise on whether your idea is feasible and if not they will give a professional opinion
Your architect will be able to guide you through obtaining your planning permission, building regulations and structural calculations.
4. The Best Price
Contact up to 3 building companies to obtain comparable quotations. It is vital that you carry out your own research on local reputable builders to ensure competency and quality.
Please allow at least 6 months prior to when you would be looking to commence with the work
5. Checklist
Upon choosing your builder make sure to discuss the following:
Payment terms
Contract terms and conditions
Availability
Deposit requirements
Where materials and skips would be stored throughout the works.
Once all legalities are finalized you may find yourself with not much to do and in fact, this is correct as all the planning and design have been done prior, this is when you can relax.
6. The Big Day!
As the date arrives in which you had agreed, contact your builder if they have not contacted yourself as we would expect to have contacted you within two weeks of starting to make sure everything is on schedule
