Garage Conversions

A garage conversion can give you valuable additional space within your existing home. Whether you want a home office, hobby room, gym, utility room or additional living space, AR Building & Groundworks can help you understand the building work involved and the practical next steps.
Based in Durham, we carry out full and partial garage conversions across the North East. You may want to convert the whole garage or retain a separate section at the front for storage. We discuss how you intend to use the room, the access you need and which existing features you would like to keep.
Before preparing a quotation, we review the existing garage, available photographs and drawings, and arrange a site visit where required. We consider the structure, floor levels, openings and proposed layout, explaining where further information or specialist input is needed to define the work properly.
Depending on the agreed specification, the conversion may include insulation to floors, walls and ceilings, new window or door openings, structural supports, plastering, joinery, electrical work, heating and finishes. Our proposal identifies which items are included, excluded or covered by an allowance, so you understand the basis of the quotation.
Led by Andrew Burns, an NVQ Level 3 qualified bricklayer with over 12 years of construction experience, our team brings practical experience in structural alterations, brickwork and general building. We work alongside specialist trades according to the requirements of each project, with responsibilities and outstanding information clarified before starting.
We work with no deposit and an agreed weekly staged payment schedule, with payments made as work progresses. Before work begins, we discuss access, clearing the garage, material choices and arrangements for working around your home. Throughout the conversion, we focus on clear communication, organised working and respect for your property.
Whether you already have drawings or are still exploring how to use the space, tell us what you have in mind. Send photographs, approximate dimensions and any available project information through our enquiry form.
